Mavericks Surf 09-10

2.13.10 – What a day.
The Mavericks competition in and of itself is a noteworthy spectacle. Not only is it the Super Bowl of surfing, but on this fine day a series of unexpected waves piled into the shoreline taking spectators, staff and media for a ride that no one could anticipate. “Killer waves” took on a whole new meaning.

These galleries give a glimpse of the view from my lens. They take you through my entire day from when I arrived in Half Moon Bay before 6am and found the K38 Rescue team preparing for gargantuan waves to the fans battling the fog that obstructed their view in the early morning to the infamous “rogue wave” that crashed onto the shore injuring approximately 13 people.
