About
While the web offers an endless sea of creative possibilities, the power of a still photograph will always be first and foremost in my heart. Telling people’s stories visually is where I thrive and it is a gift to have the ability to do so as often as I do. Whether it is through one photo or a variety of media, it is important that their story shines through. To paraphrase the wisdom of Kim Komenich, a photographer should never use their photos to tell the viewer more about themselves than their subject.
I love to explore and be in unfamiliar surroundings. The bigger and more encompassing the project, the better.
As a former professional baseball player I apply the same passion to photography that I did to my sport. The life lesions learned from the game of baseball translate beautifully into my career as a visual journalist.
My faith in God, my wife and my son are the foundation of all that I do and without their support nothing would be worthwhile or even possible.
Based in San Jose, Calif., I frequently contribute to the San Francisco Chronicle where I interned during the Summer of 2010. Being a part of such an amazing team of talented professionals was one of the best experiences of my career.
Other editorial clients include: Reuters, Getty Images, The Associated Press, The Registry – Bay Area Real Estate Journal, Wines & Vines Magazine, Bicycling Magazine, Bike Magazine (multimedia), and Powder Magazine.
Recent awards include: Hearst Journalism Awards – 2010 – Multimedia (12th place), California College Media Association – 2010 – Multimedia (2nd place) as well as recognition from San Francisco Bay Area Press Photographers Association. I also had the pleasure of participating in the 61st Missouri Photo Workshop in October 2009.
